  • She came from Lodz. She attended a secondary school in Warsaw. Than she went of to study law in Cracow at the Jagiellonian University and business at the Academy of Commerce.
    When the war broke, she decided to escape to Russia, encouraged by her parents. She stopped briefly in Warsaw, and was taken to the ghetto.
    Zofia's surname was Rubinstein, during the war she had to change it to Sielczak.
    She had to hide on the Aryan side. In 1945 she fought withe the Polish Army against the Germans. She returned to Poland, married and had children. She was a journalist, editor and a writer. In 1971 she emigrated to the United States where she worked as a librarian in New York.
