Everyone under the occupation had to have a Kennkarte indicating name, date and place of birth, present occupation and religion. Zofia decided to act like a true Pole and and obtain an \"authentic\" Kennkarte. Everything went smoothly and Zofia received a Kennkarte that would expire May 8,1948. The next step was to register her adress with the vital-records office. This time Zofia could not have forseen that there were two false Zofia Sielczaks born of the same parents on the same date using false papers like her. She was soon to learn what that meant to her.
