  • Before the war he was a barrister in Warsaw, a theatre expert and a director. During the occupation he was a benefactor, led the Jewish Social Self-Help (ZSS) in Warsaw. Then he expanded the organisation's activity onto the whole General Government with the statutory office located in Krakow. Weichert's activity aroused reservations among underground organisations and Jewish social activists in the ghetto. After the war a trail in the Jewish Community Court, which condemned his activity, first and foremost the activity involving obtaining and distributing aid from abroad aimed at helping Jews (the case pertained to the activity after the liquidation of the ghetto in 1943 - misinformation of the public opinion around the world as well as Jewish centres abroad).
