  • 12 years old Mika Pereson was supposed to live with the Dubiel family. When he managed to get across the ghetto wall, together with Dubiel’s son – his guide, he was caught by two Polish policemen and escorted to prison. He was accused of possession of 10 pistol cartridges and tortured to tell where he got them from, what his address in the ghetto was, where his mother lived and where he was going to. The boy was astonishingly brave – he betrayed no one. After a few weeks of negotiations and huge bribes Mika and Dubiel were released out of prison. It turned out that it was the Pole who slipped the cartridges to Mika’s pocket. Mika was escorted by the Polish policeman to the ghetto on the 18 April 1943. The next day the uprising breaks out. The boy was killed in it.
