A Palestinian born in Vilna: his parents emigrated to Palestine in 1925, when he was three years old. He voluntarily enlisted in the British Army, he became a soldier of the Palestinian Brigade. At the end of 1945 in Rotterdam he met Bluma Babic and they became engaged. They became husband and wife in 13 August 1946.
