In the fall of 1942 he lived with Ema at Zamenhofa Street, there was an unsuccessful attempt to escape from the ghetto at 24 January 1943 but on 27 January Henryk and his wife crossed to the 'Aryan side' together with a group of detail workers, they lived for a couple of days at Mr and Mrs Paluch's and then hid in Milosna for eighteen months.
