A professor, the senior registrar of the infants' unit of the Bersohn and Bauman Children’s Hospital's branch in Leszno Street. Mr. and Mrs. Hirszfeld were not very popular in the ghetto due to their ostentatious membership in a Catholic parish. Despite all the respect aroused by their scientific accomplishments there was a feeling of strangeness between them and us; she survived the war.
