  • Maria lost her father and sister-in-law during the First Action, she worked in Szulc's shops, she moved from the small getto and started to live with the Berlands in Muranowska Street. On 4 October 1942 she married Marian, and they lived together in a shelter at the corner of Muranowska and Niska Street, until 29 April when the Germans found the shelter. They were sent to the Umschlag. Maria jumped off the train and came back to Warsaw where she hid at Grzybowska Street No. 41, and then, since July 1943, in Sienna Street. In the spring of 1944 she contacted J. Wesolowski and via him with the Committee to Help the Jews. She was given a Kennkarte under the name Karczewska, and was employed as a servant by a Polish family. On 1 August 1944 she came to Sienna Street - insurgents entered this area two days later. Maria survived the uprising. She lives in Israel together with her husband.
