  • Opieka nad zdrowiem ludności była początkowo rozdzielona pomiędzy Gminę a Komitet Pomocy Żydom, starcia kompetencyjne były na porządku dziennym. Dlatego Hirszfeld uznał, że najlepiej będzie dokooptować przedstawicieli Komitetu do powstającej Rady Zdrowia. Poza tym do rady należeli dyrektorowie obu szpitali, po pewnym czasie dokooptowano kuratorów szpitali i innych. Przy powstaniu getta nacjonalizm żydowski nie dopuszczał Polaków pochodzenia żydowskiego do żadnych stanowisk. Okres ten szybko minął.
