  • He came from a small town near Sierpc. Before the war, the family were doing well; his mother, brother and sister earned money. Jozne and his younger sister went to a primary school. On 8 September 1939 German army invaded their town. Men between 18 and 35 years old were deported. His brother sent him a letter from Bialystok, then from Vilna, where he stayed until the outbreak of the war with Russians. The rest of the Jewish population were taken in the cattle-trucks (from Pomiechowek, Nowy Dwor and Jablonna) to Warsaw. The family traded there. Until the spring of 1941 they were doing well, but then they stayed without livelihoods. The House Committee placed the children in a semi-dormitory at Nowolipki Street No. 25.
