After moving to the ghetto he tried to deal in everything he could to avoid death from starvation, but he could not earn a sufficient sum of money. The whole family was in danger of starvation. Ber decided to get out of the ghetto. His family did not want to go with him. Ber managed to survive the war. His whole family that remained in the ghetto died. His wife died of starvation in 1941.
