  • In summer 1943 Benjamin Miedzyrzecki was hiding in the attic of Hotel Polski with a couple of other people, escaping a stay in the Pawiak prison. He was hiding at janitor Kartaszew's with his parents and his eleven-year-old sister. Worked hard: digged ditches, built graves, buried bodies. In autumn 1943 went with Wladka to the Bund's anniversary meeting at Miodowa Street No. 24. On 1 August 1944 started to help build the barricades on the streets of Warsaw. Before the uprising's failure dug a tunnel to the basement on the corner of Sienna and Sosnowa streets, where he was hiding with Wladka. They left the town together four days after the uprising's failure. They landed up in a labour camp in Germany. They escaped and found their friends from the Jewish Cooordinating Committee (ZKK) a few months later in a town near Grodzisk.
